Must Go Places in Tanzania

Safari holidays are what come into mind when Tanzania is mentioned. It is a very beautiful country opening doors to the most amazing game viewing opportunities. It is also home to other interesting aspects including lakes, plains and mountain ranges. Those who love beach experience will also find something most ideal in Tanzania thanks to the crystal clear waters and sandy beaches of Zanzibar.

The Ngorongoro Crater: this is one of the things that cannot be missed while in Tanzania. It is a natural wonder which teems with wildlife. It is an extinct crater which has now become the home to numerous animal species and you will enjoy cruising over the steep crater. The walls of the crater act as a barrier thereby enclosing the wild animals within it.

Serengeti plains: they are home to the Great Migration and by getting your travel time and season right; you will enjoy the World Wonder at its best. The plains have all kinds of animals including the Big Five and you can get as close to them as you want depending on the safari that you have chosen.

Tarangire: this is the home to elephants and is located on the Southern part. The herds here are enormous with some containing as much as 300 elephants. It is beautiful woodland made mostly of acacia and baobab trees. The experience here is simply nothing short of exciting especially for nature lovers.

Selous: the game reserve of Africa’s biggest protected reserves and you will enjoy being here and indentifying with the wildlife. It is here that you will find all animals together and in their most natural habitat. Rover Rifiji feeds the reserve.

The Mahale mountains: this is the home to wild chimpanzee’s believed to be the last within East Africa. It is strategically placed overlooking Lake Tanganyika and you will have amazing views from here. The reserve is more of a jungle mountain range which then joins up with the lake with a beach that is suitable for swimmers. One of the best things you can do while here is tracking the chimpanzees with the help of the local tour guides.

Other interesting places worth checking out while in Tanzania include the Katavi National Park ideal for game viewing and also home to the Chada and Katavi Lakes as well as the River Katuma. Ruaha National Park is also worth a visit and is best for bird watching although it is also home to wild animals including the lesser and greater kudu.
